Contact Lenses to Fight Various Eye Conditions
Contact lenses cornea, permeable contact lenses, contact lenses farsightedness
People suffer from various eye conditions which do not allow them to
use regular contact lenses. They require specially designed lenses to
rectify their problems and have a better eye sight. The several eye conditions
which needs specially designed contacts are
• Astigmatism
• Presbyopia
• Giant papillary conjunctivitis
• Dry Eyes
Lenses Required For Astigmatism
Astigmatism can be corrected by specially designed toric lenses. Fitting
the regular soft contacts for farsightedness or nearsightedness is easier
than the fitting of toric lenses. The toric lenses should move constantly
while blinking keeping the alignment correct and without any rotational
movement. These lenses provide the best possible comfort, fit and correct
vision.
Toric contacts are available in soft as well as GP lens material. People
suffering from unusual amount of astigmatism require custom designed contact
lenses. The custom made lenses are costlier than the regular toric contact
lens.
Another option for astigmatism is hybrid contact lens. These lenses provide
the clarity of a gas permeable lens but the comfort of the soft lenses.
Contact Lens for Presbyopia
Monovision and bifocal lenses are options for presbyopia. Multifocal
and bifocal lenses have a complex design than the regular contact lenses.
The important thing is the fitting of these lenses. A proper fit will
ensure good vision. Finding the correct contact lens for presbyopia is
costlier and even time consuming.
The result derived from bifocal and monovision lenses are worth the money
and time spent.
Contact Lenses for GPC
GPC or Giant papillary conjunctivitis is an inciting reaction which is
the result of proteins secreted in the tears. Due to this reaction the
lid glands secrete substances which create a transparent coating on the
lens. This makes the contact lens uncomfortable and further creates problem
in vision.
Soft daily disposable lenses can solve this problem because they do not
allow accumulation of any protein deposit. It is only possible because
these lenses are discarded daily.
GP contact lens is another good option for GPC. There is no chance of
any allergic reaction if one wears gas permeable lens for it requires
cleaning daily.
Contacts for People Suffering from Dry Eyes
Chronic dry eyes are very common eye condition with most people. This
is one of the problems that do not allow people to wear contact lenses.
People are even asked to discontinue wearing the contact lenses because
of dry eyes.
Few dry eyes symptoms are:
• Tearing without any reason
• Excessively watery tears
• Constant feeling of something present in the eye
• Burning eye or frequent red eyes
Soft lenses may not be the solution for chronic dry eyes. In order to
solve this problem, you require the new soft contact lenses. These contact
lenses hold moisture better than the regular soft lenses even after wearing
it for a long period of time.
Gas permeable lens is also another option for dry eyes because they do
not absorb moisture as the soft lenses. Dry eyes can also be treated through
punctual plugs. These may even improve the comfort of a lens.
